Happy 8 months!

To the sweetest boys we know!  They are getting HUGE (22lbs) and changing every day.  Right now they are loving all food...sweet potatoes are a favorite of Cy and Presley really like his fruits.  They love to chew on Puffs and MumMums and are very good at feeding themselves.  Both boys are getting their top two teeth and that has been interesting.  Cy's have both cut through and Presley's are just on the surface.  We will all be ready for this round of teething to be over.  Still don't have any crawlers, but Cy gets around by scooting his butt and by rolling.  Presley is content to set up camp in one spot and stay there.
It is currently very hard to tell the boys apart from one another and Paul and I both have times where we get them mixed up.  The Oler family is looking forward to a wonderful Christmas with these two sweet baby boys!

a day of firsts (day 1)

We flew into Oregon on Wednesday before Thanksgiving and arrived to some snow on the ground and VERY cold weather.  It was absolutely perfect!  We drove straight to Auntie Meredith and Uncle Mitchell's house.  After such a long flight we were all ready to relax and stretch out a little bit!  Our first day in Portland was full of many 'firsts' for Cy and Presley.  It was their first plane trip.  As I mentioned in a previous post they were rock stars.
The boys also enjoyed their first bath together.
They saw their first snowfall.
(I know you can't see the snowflakes but they were falling!)
They also enjoyed meeting Mitchell for the first time!  Auntie Meredith and Grandpa go waaaaay back with the boys ;).
It was a long day with the plane ride and 2 hour time difference, but C&P were troopers and made it through with no problem whatsoever!  It was a very good start to a wonderful vacation!

Thanksgiving - day 2

We started out Thanksgiving day with a trip out to see Mitchell's entire family.  His parents and sisters were in from Eugene as were his Grammie, aunts, uncles and cousins.  His whole family was so sweet to the boys.  Each family brought a little gift for Presley & Cy.  They got toy cars, some Converse sneakers and really cool mountain men boots!  Mom was very excited about the cool sneakers and boots, but the boys were definitely very excited about the cool toys :).

Opening presents with Mitchell's mom (right) and Aunt Paula
Later in the afternoon we headed to Paul's Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe's for Thanksgiving dinner.  They are both such wonderful hosts and Mary and Felicia (Paul's cousin-in-law) put together a delicious meal!
Aunt Mary with her grandchildren Sadie and Ben

Cy & Presley enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast as well (don't know why I don' have pics of Presley).  The got to eat sweet potatoes, squash and mashed potatoes!  Very starchy...
Cy and Pres got a lot of love and family time in at Mary & Joe's!

Thanks Mary and Joe for hosting us on Thanksgiving.  It was the highlight of our trip!

Lumberjacks (day 3)

The day after Thanksgiving we took part in the Oler tradition of going to the Christmas Tree farm and cutting down a tree.  Paul and I did this in San Antonio the first year we were married, but I am pretty sure the temperature was in the 70's and that the trees were dinky enough that we could wrap our arms around them.  Christmas tree hunting in Oregon is a little more authentic!
My little Lumberjack men!

Just their size!
This is the tree!  Presley and Cy stake their claim with Uncle Mitchell & Auntie Meredith
The work begins.
Presley got to check out a sled that was just his size.
Cy wanted to try it out too!

Duck Pride (Go Frogs!) (day 3&4)

I am going to use this post to point out that Paul has become a bandwagon Oregon Duck fan.  Yeah, he is from Oregon and all, but he actually went to Oregon State the rival school of the Ducks.  If you ask me the smart bandwagon to jump on would have been his wife's alma mater, TCU.  But that's just me.
Paul's brother in law Mitchell is actually a born and bred Duck fan.  Here they are cheering on the Ducks.  Quack.
I spent all day Friday rooting for team after team to lose so that TCU could bump up at least one spot in the ratings.  Thank you Boise State!
Despite their father's move to the Oregon Nation, Cy & Presley remain firm Frog fans.  They wore their purple (it really is a purple shirt) proudly on Saturday.
Go Frogs!

Westside Reception (day 4)

Our last day in Portland we went to a reception that was hosted in honor of Cy and Presley by several of the Senior's good friends from Westside Church of Christ.  We enjoyed visiting with everyone and showing the boys off :).

Presley trying some pumpkin pie.  Surprisingly he wasn't that enthusiastic about it.  I don't understand how he can love strained peas and just be kind of so-so on something like pumpkin pie.  He must be his father's son...

Airplane success!

We're back!  Cy and Presley were beyond perfect on the airplane so give them a big cheer next time you see them!  Lots of pictures to post once we catch up on some sleep...

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are headed to Portland on Wednesday morning to spend Thanksgiving with Paul's family.  Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving! :)

Giggles

Our friends baby-sat the boys last night so Paul & I could have a date night and they took this video.
What can I say?  They are boys...farting noises are funny even at 6 1/2 months.

Wurstfest

Paul has been wanting to go to some kind of German festival as long as we have been living in SA.  We have missed Oktoberfest every year, but last weekend made the trip to New Braunfels for Wurstfest 2010 (or as my brother prefers, Sausagefest).
We met up with some friends, walked around the festival grounds and ate.  Paul was most excited about the beer and the food.
Cy and Presley were pretty excited about their food too.

I left my camera in the car and it was a long walk so we just took a few with the old camera phone.  Not too impressive...

The other Twins

Paul and I are both playing on an intramural softball team this fall.  Our good friend and team coach, Josh named our team the Twins!  Another friend, Sheena, created the most AMAZING team shirts ever.
These guys look familiar?

We can't claim the only twins on the team though.  Our friends Charles and Kristi are expecting twins Chloe and Wyatt in January!  There is something in the water at the UT Health Science Center. :)
Go TWINS!!!!!

Happy (or not so much) Halloween

After our trip to the zoo it was time to carve some pumpkins!  We bought them here and just never got around to carving them until Halloween.  Paul carved the big pumpkin and I carved the small pumpkins with a P and a C.
We had a shark and a giraffe around our house on Halloween evening.  The giraffe (Presley) was wary and a little unhappy and the shark (Cy) was a hot, screaming mad man.  This picture says it all.
We went over to trick or treat and have dinner at the house of one of Evie's friends.  It was a lot of fun to be around a lot of kids running around in costume.  Here is the cousin picture...Evie was the cutest little cowgirl!
Immediately after the above picture Cy lost it again.  Poor guy was just so hot in his costume and it really made him mad.
Pres and Evie with their friends.
Happy giraffe
(really Presley was pretty unhappy about the costume situation too.  we just happened to catch a smile before the crying started)!
Cy was much happier trick or treating in his normal clothes.  Maybe next year we will get a little more into the costume thing!

Our first trip to the Zoo

We thought we would celebrate Halloween all day on Sunday and started the day off with a trip to the zoo for Zoo Boo.  We met the Whiteside's  there, but then realized that Zoo Boo was only in the evening so we missed out on the festivities.  We enjoyed exploring the zoo though and hanging out with the family!
Evie is such a good entertainer!  She can make the boys laugh big ol' belly laughs.  It is great :).

 Family pic with the elephants!
and we're done...

Haircut numero dos

haha!  just kidding.  they did really get another haircut, but we went for a more conservative look than what Cy is showing you here.  just having some fun after bath time.
