29 weeks and two big babies

We had another doctor's appointment today and the boys are doing great!  Cy weighed in at 3 pounds 7 ounces and Presley weighed 3 pounds 3 ounces.  That is almost a pound and a half of growth for each of them over the past 4 weeks.  I can definitely feel that they have grown quite a bit, but it is crazy to think that between the two of them they weigh the amount of a full term baby (and I have 9 more weeks to go...ahhh!!!).

There is really nothing else to report other then the fact that I will start going to the doctor every two weeks now to check on the babies and me to make sure my blood pressure and everything else remains normal.  We didn't get great photos of either boy this time around (both had their arms covering their faces), so instead I will leave you with a picture of my belly at 29 weeks since so many of you have asked about it.  Let me tell you...it is hard to miss.

A visit with Gigi

After my baby shower in RR this past weekend Paul and I loaded up with my parents and made the drive to Dallas to visit my grandmother.  We had a good visit and enjoyed getting to spend some time with her.

Cy has a special connection to Gigi, because he is named after her husband and my grandaddy, Cyrus Addams.  Gigi also passed on her love of Chicago Cubs baseball to me from the time I was a little girl, and I am very excited to pass that on to the boys.  I had suggested doing a Chicago Cubs theme in the nursery but Paul didn't think we needed to be that die-hard. ;)

Here Gigi and I are with the boys at 28 weeks

Baby Shower!

This past weekend Cy and Presley were showered with lots of love, good food and gifts at a shower hosted by my mom's friends in Round Rock.  These ladies always do it beautifully with gorgeous flowers and yummy food and always a delicious cake by Roxanne.

6 months

Another doctor's appointment today...and we still have two boys!  Our sonographer likes to point that out every time as soon as she pulls up their images on the machine.  I guess after initially prediciting  a boy and a girl she wants to make sure and show us that she is 100% sure now about them both being boys.   She always includes a great picture of each boy's anatomy, but I will spare you all of those.

Each baby weighs 1 pound 13 ounces, and they are developing right on track.  Having almost 4 pounds of baby is starting to cause some slight (or sometimes a lot) of discomfort for ol' mom, but they are also very fun to feel moving around and kicking.

We were able to get really good pictures of each boy's face.  When we were watching the actual sonogram and could see their faces for long periods of time I thought they looked a lot alike!  Of course, sonogram pictures are not exactly crystal clear, but they seem to have the same nose.  I guess we will find out in a few months!

Here is Cy:
(just like the last appointment Cy had his face covered by Presley's foot for almost the entire sonogram...I am glad we were able to still get such a good picture of him!)

I circled the main part of his face to make it easier (?) to find.  The most prominent feature is definitely the cute nose!

Here is Presley:
His nose is smashed up against his sac in this picture, but you can really see his mouth and chin!  He also managed to get his foot (circled) hiked up and away from Cy's face long enough to get this photo.

Profile of Presley!  Red line points to his ear.

California

We made a trip up to see Paul's family in northern California this past weekend.  His grandmother, aunt and cousins and uncle and his family all live in the Palo Alto/San Jose area, but we spent the entire weekend at the beach house near Santa Cruz.  It was beautiful there and despite what I consider cool temperatures and freezing water Paul enjoyed some time swimming in the ocean.

My stomach has grown A LOT since the last post.

On our last night before coming home his Aunt Ruth, Granny and cousins Nicolas and Elisa had a mini baby shower for us!  We had delicious cake and got some really cool gifts for the boys.

We had so much fun playing and hanging out with Nicolas and Elisa, although Paul did most of the playing and I did a lot of sleeping...(my allergies have been horrible this past week and I am not too happy about the lack of medicine that pregnant women are allowed to take!)

Cy and Presley each got a bear that is exactly like the bears that Nicolas and Elisa loved when they were little.  These bears had actually been discontinued so Ruth searched all over and finally found these two in England and had them shipped over.  I know the boys will love them!

The new bears with their very loved, older bear cousins

Each of the boys received a handmade blanket courtesy of Ruth's mother-in-law, who is Cuban.  She makes these traditional style, Cuban blankets that are very soft, trimmed with lace and hand embroidered with characters.

Some cute onesies that are perfect for our Texas boys

We had a great trip visiting with everyone and look forward to getting Cy and Presley out to California as soon as we can!

Christmas 2009

Paul and I had a great, last Christmas with just the two of us, although it seemed as if the boys were already here...they got more presents then anyone!!!  Paul's dad, sister and brother in law were in town for the week of Christmas and then we drove to RR to celebrate the Whiteside Christmas on New Year's Day.

Here are some sneak previews of some very cute clothes for Cy and Presley.

Made by Aunt MP!  The boys will be so fancy in their ties!!

One pounders

I had another doctor's appointment yesterday and everything looks good!  Both babies are still big for their gestational age and weighed in at one pound each.  I definitely feel them kicking and turning in my stomach and Paul can feel them sometimes too.

We got a good picture of Presley's face but Cy kept his hands in front of his face for the entire sonogram, so those pictures aren't very clear.  The babies are positioned across my stomach with their heads on opposite sides.  When we do the sonograms we look at one baby at a time while she gets their measurments.  When we were looking at Cy we kept seeing Presley's foot come into the picture and kick right at Cy's head!  I'm sure Cy will get his revenge at some point, but it was fun to see the way their bodies interact with each other already.

None of the sonograms are scanning very clearly so you'll just have to take our word for it that the boys are very cute and getting so big!

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy 2 year anniversary to me and Paul!!

Presley Robert

**Programming note:  Ok, so it is too confusing to let the babies do the talking since there are 2 of them, so from here on out it's just me, Lindsay, telling you about everything going on.**

We have finally decided on a name for Baby A.  He was the little guy that was shy the first time around and led us to believe he might be a girl!  Well now we have confirmation that Baby A is in fact a "he."  We are very excited to have two boys and we think it will be so fun for them growing up to be the same sex...there is just so much more that can be shared between the two of them, especially as they get older.

Baby A is officially named Presley Robert Oler.  We thought if one baby gets to be named after their dad, then both babies should get that honor.  Not only does Presley share his dad's middle name but they also share initials...P.R.O.  From here on out the babies will be known as Presley and Cy.  (just so you know...Baby A and Baby B are terms that the doctors use to refer to the placement of the babies inside of me.  Baby A or Presley, is the baby that is positioned lowest and would be the first one to be born.  Baby B or Cyrus is higher up and would be the second baby to come out).

I had another doctor's appointment right before Thanksgiving and everything still looks really good as far as the doctor can tell.  Presley weighs 6 ounces and Cy is 7 ounces.  They are both a little bigger then expected at this point so that is a good sign!  I have started feeling them move around in my stomach.  They just feel like little flutters, but it is still pretty cool.  Paul is looking forward to being able to feel them move from the outside of my stomach.

My next appointment is the week of Christmas, so there will be another update then.  Until then, here are a couple of pictures.

Evie's Adventures - Christmas Giveaway!

Hi everyone!  Mom and Dad go to their next appointment on Tuesday and I know they will post pictures and updates then, but in the meantime I wanted to tell you about my cousin, Evie's blog.

Evie and her mom go on lots of fun adventures and they post all their fun activities so that other moms and kids will have good ideas for activities during the day.  Right now the blog Evie's Adventures is doing a giveaway in conjunction with KM Thomas Designs on Etsy.  You could win one of 3 gift certificates for card designs (Christmas, birthday, birth announcements, etc...).  Head on over to Evie's Adventures to read the contest rules and enter to win!  Good luck :).

Cyrus Paul

I have a name!  My parents are naming me Cyrus Paul, but they are just going to call me Cy for short.
It's pretty cool because I am named after three important men in my family.  My mom's grandaddy was Cyrus Cook Addams and from what she says he was a very good and generous man and she has lots of good memories of him when she was a little girl.  My middle name, Paul, is my dad's name!  My grandpa is named Paul too, so three generations of Oler's get to share the name.  I am pretty proud to have the name of all three of these men!

We are...

Our first pic together!

I'm back!  Baby A and I are still growing away in mom's belly, but we have something very important to tell you!  I am a boy and Baby A is a boy too!  Isn't that cool?  Mom and Dad found that out about us a couple of weeks ago.  That picture at the top shows both of us together.  I am on top and my brother is behind me.

If you wonder why I do all the talking on the blog it is because my brother sure sleeps a lot but I am active and moving!  In fact, the sonographer told mom and dad that she had never seen a baby move as much as I did.  I think that is why they were able to tell my sex so early.  I was kicking my legs pretty hard, so everyone got a good view of my "equipment!"  My brother is much more quiet and calm but if you nudge him a little bit he wakes up and moves around too.

Mom says she is starting to feel better, but she likes to give us pep talks in the morning so that we will help her out with that!  Dad is pretty funny because he talks to us a lot and tells us how excited he is to see us.  Hope you guys like the new pictures :)

Twins!

Our first pictures!
(You can click on the picture to make it bigger).

Hi everyone!  I am Baby B and my mom and dad just found out that they are having twins (us)!  They are very excited and so are Baby A and I.  We can't wait to see everyone next spring.  This is our first picture from a doctor's appointment back in September.  That was when mom and dad first found out there were two of us growing in mom's belly.  You can see my whole body pretty good.  I am laying on my back and I am trying my very hardest to stretch my arm and leg buds out so you can see them!  Baby A was probably sleeping so it is harder to see anything besides a head and body in that picture.  I will be back with more updates for everyone from time to time so stay tuned!
